You have a vision, an idea and the drive to make a living from this new passion. You just don’t know where and how to start.
What is ready to create?
Ready to Create is a 6-week live cohort designed to help you take full control of your camera and create the work you actually want to make.
We start with the end in mind, defining the type of work and clients you want to pursue, then cover camera basics, manual shooting, storytelling, and basic editing.
Through practical assignments and personal feedback, you’ll learn to confidently bring your ideas to life.
By the end, you’ll have a clear direction, a strong portfolio piece, and the confidence to start reaching out to clients.
Core principles
From the very beginning, you’ll identify the type of creative work you want to pursue and use that direction to guide everything you create throughout the six weeks.
Ready to Create is a live, hands on learning experience with an emphasis on practical assignments rather than simply watching lessons.
Knowing how your camera works is important, but understanding how to use it to create the results you want comes from experience.
What makes Ready to Create work so well is the fact that the program utilizes a continuous feedback loop whereby you improve exponentially. Weekly video calls with me - Community support - Lifetime access
Cohort overview
Purpose
Ready to Create is designed to prepare beginner videographers for the journey from owning a camera to becoming a confident freelance creative. Through practical education, hands-on assignments, personal feedback and real-world creative projects, the cohort gives you the foundations you need to start creating professional work and pursuing paying clients.
For who it is
Ready to Create is for beginner videographers who have already invested in a consumer or prosumer camera and lens and are ready to learn how to use their equipment with confidence.
It is for people who don't just want to understand their camera, but want to learn how to create with it — and ultimately turn those skills into professional work for paying clients.
You don't need to be an experienced filmmaker. You need a camera, a willingness to learn, and the ambition to start creating work you can eventually be hired for.
The transformation
You are overwhelmed by the idea of shooting on manual:
You own a camera but lack the knowledge and control to use it effectively. You don’t know where to start and and learning how to use your camera feels like an impossible task.
Before Ready to Create
You struggle to bring ideas to life:
You lack the technical skills and creative understanding to turn your vision into the videos you imagine. You see other creatives produce work and wonder how they did it. You admire their results but don't know how to achieve something similar yourself.
You are unsure how to get started professionally:
You lack a strong portfolio piece and the confidence to present your work to potential clients. You don’t know how how to approach the business side of freelance videography.
After Ready to Create
You are in control of your camera:
You understand how your camera works and can make deliberate technical and creative decisions to get the results you want.
You are able to turn ideas into video:
You can take an idea from concept to finished video, using the right techniques to bring your creative vision to life.
You are ready to pursue your first clients:
You have a solid foundation in videography, a portfolio-worthy project that demonstrates your skills, and a clear direction for starting your journey as a freelance creative.
The six week journey
Ready to Create starts with the end in mind.
From the very beginning, you’ll identify the type of creative work you want to pursue and use that direction to guide everything you create throughout the six weeks.
You’ll learn how to confidently control your camera, make intentional creative decisions, plan and shoot a video, and edit your footage into a finished piece of work. Every assignment is designed to build both your skills and your portfolio, so that by the end of the six weeks you’re not simply leaving with more knowledge — you’re leaving with a clearer creative direction and a piece of work that represents the kind of work you want to be hired for.
The Cohort experience
Ready to Create is a live, hands-on learning experience.
The cohort combines live group sessions with personal 1:1 video sessions, giving you both the structure of a group learning environment and individual attention throughout the process.
You’ll learn through practical assignments rather than simply watching lessons, and receive both personal and group feedback on the work you create. You’ll also learn alongside a small group of like-minded creatives, creating an environment built around accountability, experimentation, feedback and progress.
The goal isn't simply to teach you — it's to get you creating.
Final outcome
The ultimate goal of Ready to Create is to move you from “I own a camera, but I don't really know what to do with it” to “I know what I want to create, I know how to create it, and I'm ready to start pursuing it professionally.”
You’ll leave with a solid foundation in camera operation and video creation, greater confidence in your creative decisions, a clear direction for the work you want to pursue, and a portfolio piece that gives you something tangible to show potential clients.
Ready to Create doesn't promise to make you a professional videographer in six weeks. It gives you the foundation, direction and confidence to start becoming one.

THE LEARNING PHILOSOPHY
Learn. Apply. Create. Receive feedback. Improve. Create again.
The best way to learn videography is by putting what you learn into practice. Knowing how your camera works is important, but understanding how to use it to create the results you want comes from experience.
Throughout the cohort, you'll learn new skills, practice them through assignments, and use them to create your own videos. You'll receive feedback on your work, learn what you can improve, and apply those lessons to your next project.
Each assignment gives you the opportunity to put your skills to the test, learn from your mistakes, and improve.
The goal isn't to get everything right the first time. It's to understand what you're doing, why you're doing it, and how to get better with every project.

The six week program
The six-week journey starts with the end in mind:
In doing so we will define what you want to create and the kind of work you want to pursue.
From there, we build your skills step by step, moving from camera fundamentals to understanding light, composition, and audio.
Each week builds on the last, giving you the knowledge and practical experience to make more intentional decisions when shooting.
Through regular practice, feedback, and refinement, you'll gradually develop your own creative direction and become more confident in bringing your ideas to life.

-
You'll need a camera that allows you to shoot video in manual mode, giving you control over settings like shutter speed, aperture, and ISO. You'll also need a computer or laptop capable of running video editing software. You don't need the most expensive gear; we'll focus on making the most of what you have.
-
By the end of Ready to Create, you'll know how to operate your camera manually, work with light and composition, plan a video production, and edit your footage into a finished video. You'll have practised making creative decisions, developed a clearer idea of the type of work you want to pursue, and created a portfolio piece you can show to potential clients. Most importantly, you'll move from owning a camera without knowing what to do with it to having a practical process for turning your ideas into videos.
-
Expect to dedicate approximately 8 hours per week to Ready to Create, including our live sessions, personal coaching, assignments, and independent practice.
